You Can Now Become Neighbors with Steve Martin for a Cool Price of $2.15 Million

If you want to be neighbors with one of Hollywood’s most beloved comedy actor-writers and coincidentally have more than $2 million to spare, then you must be in luck because Steve Martin just put his California property on the market. The best part is, he will also be your neighbor since he owns the mansion next door.

The Concealed Residence

Located in the quiet part of Beverly Hills, the estimated 1,400-square-foot residence was hidden in a cul-de-sac in the mountains between the Coldwater and Laurel Canyon, making it a perfect home for anyone who values serenity and privacy. More so, it is concealed behind an acre or more of trees in a woodlot, thereby adding to the reclusiveness of the area.

The property is very secluded and is even concealed with an acre of trees

Though the celebrity home is listed as spanning to 1,400 square feet, it looks more spacious than the estimated area of the lot, which makes sense because of the open floor plan on the first level and the grand foyer with double-height space.

On the other hand, other online listings, which did not indicate the area of the Father of the Bride thespian’s latest property on the market, state that the two-plus story home has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, seemingly having more rooms for its land area.

California-casual Atmosphere

The house on the market, which features many architectural style nods, was built in the mid-1950s despite its contemporary style and California-laid-back atmosphere.

To enter the house from the driveway, you need to take a flight of exterior stairs and if you think you’re done with stairs after that, once you open the door and get astonished by the double-height foyer and the light beige stone tiling on the floor, you will also be welcomed by another set of stairs.

The upstairs living room is spacious and cozy that is complete with a wood-burning fireplace

But the stairs are worth it with the spacious upstairs living room, complete with two common areas and a wood-burning fireplace accented with an arch of Spanish-style tiles.

The cozy living room also has exposed ceiling beams in an angled slope all painted in white, contrasting the shiny wooden floors.

A wall is almost entirely made of sliding doors leading to a wide terrace with a white canvas awning as roof and surrounded by a vintage stone balustrade. The common area also has a couple of interior columns with tiny light fixtures.

Curved Kitchen

The kitchen, which loosely resembles something Frank Lloyd Wright could’ve designed, has a circular and curved theme, with matching wood finish to the floors even more accentuated with the circular range hood above a curved kitchen island.

The curved wooden kitchen also boasts its black granite countertops, narrowly slatted cabinets, and thin wooden slats on the kitchen hood and island.

The kitchen is also adjoining the breakfast room, which is bordered by floor-to-ceiling picture windows, perfect for morning doses of vitamin D.

Three of the four bedrooms have their own bathrooms, including the master bedroom. The master suite also has its spacious private terrace with an exemplary view on the neighboring plethora of greenery while its en suite is modern with its almost all-white motif made brighter with its skylight.

The Next-Door Mansion

The Cheaper by the Dozen actor bought the secluded abode in the late ’90s, years after he bought the adjacent English country residence for $3 million in 1995 from celebrity couple Corbin Bensen and Amanda Pays who renovated the 10,000-square-foot mansion.

In fact, this deal started the house-flipping business of the couple who has earned their spot as notable real estate renovators.

These are just two properties under Martin’s real estate portfolio which also includes a 7,400-square-foot estate in Montecito, California, and a one-bathroom condo in a pre-war building near the Central Park in the Upper West Side, Manhattan, among others.
