Here’s Why Gerard Butler Still Chooses to Help People Despite Losing His Home TWICE!
After losing part of his home due to a devastating wildfire that engulfed most of Malibu, California, last November, Gerard Butler is living in his mobile home while the renovation is on-going. But just when the renowned actor thought the worse was already behind him and he could now focus all his attention on helping to raise funds for Malibu Foundation, he experienced an unexpected tragedy in his life when his temporary home got stolen! How exactly did that happen?
The Incident
Since the recent wildfire in Malibu, California, burned a good portion of his house, Butler revealed that he was forced to take temporary shelter in his car as he attends due to his hectic schedule and travel plans. He also recently spent $11,000 to have his 1969 Airstream Silver Sovereign Trailer renovated. However, an unexpected incident happened a few days ago that shocked the 49-year-old actor to the core.
According to TMZ, his vintage vehicle got stolen from the parking lot of a fabrication shop in San Fernando Valley. What’s worse, the Los Angeles Police Department said they have yet to identify the suspect who could be behind the heist. As of this writing, the LAPD authorities are still finding some solid lead to determine who the culprit is. However, all they know for now is that the person intended to steal his vehicle as it smashed through the parking lot’s gates to get his trailer.
The Commitment
Despite the devastation and initial shock he felt, Butler reveals he’s still willing to continue his cause to help raise some funds to rebuild the Malibu community. Aside from his active participation, Butler also opened the doors for one of his other properties to provide temporary shelter to some of his neighbors who lost their homes during the fire. The actor shared how his heart broke when he saw young, innocent children asking questions why they need to flee from their homes and what would happen to them now.
According to him, it’s difficult for parents to explain to their children what exactly happened to their treasured homes. In a speech, Butler showed his commitment to helping to remedy their situation and help the community get back on its feet and return to their normal life again.
The Speech
He also thanked other prominent guests like Cindy Crawford, Minni Jamie Foxx, Minnie Driver, Sean Penn, Robin Thicke, as well as The Edge for coming and joining him in this cause. Meanwhile, the renowned filmmaker Sean Penn who also lived in Malibu praised and thanked the firefighters for risking their lives to save and rescue them as well as protect their homes from the wildfire. Aside from Butler and his group, other high-profile celebrities like Liam Hemsworth as well as Miley Cyrus are also gathering funds for the Malibu Foundation.
