Top Gear’s Chris Harris is Auctioning His Camaro, And the Winner Gets a Special Surprise

If you are a car enthusiast, then you’re probably not new to the BBC show Top Gear that tests manufacturers’ claims on their vehicles. Avid fans of the series will definitely know (and love) the show’s very knowledgeable host Chris Harris, who recently put one of his 4-wheeled babies for sale.

The man is certainly worth his salt when it comes to rides: apart from being a presenter on the hit show, he is also a race car driver and a well-known automotive journalist. This means that whenever he puts something from his collection up for sale, fans automatically assume that it must be good.

Camaro Z28 for Sale

The vehicle in question is none other than the very handsome Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 that Chris personally loves to drive. So if you’re looking to jazz up your garage, gather all your spare change, and break that piggy bank because this ride is definitely worth the price tag.

As per the listing found on Collecting Cars, Litchfield Motors imported the car to the United Kingdom in 2015 and two years later, the host bought it.

Aside from the fact that it is only two years old and, more importantly, was owned by Chris, what makes it even more special is that it is just one of the five examples sent to the country.

With just 7,962 miles cocked in its odometer, the car is practically brand new, which may be because the man is simply busy filming for Top Gear. Interestingly, he bought the car with just 233 miles.

Not the Usual

If you are a die-hard fan of Chris, then you would know this Chevy is clearly different from other cars in his garage. For one, this Camaro is way heavier than other rides – at 1,730 kilograms, it definitely is fatter than a Peugeot hot hatchback, Porsche 911, and a Lotus Elise that had remained a part of his collection. So what could have convinced the star to buy the ride?

The host bought the car in 2017

Three years before the purchase, the host had hinted towards the purchase in one of the show’s episodes where he compared the same model to a 997 GT3. Head on over to the man’s YouTube account, Chris Harris on Cars, where you’ll still find his review.

At the time, he only had nice words to say about the Camaro and even praised its “stand-out” six-speed manual shifter. He underlined how the car’s old-fashioned charm and modernized features gave the best bang for your buck.

The Z28 is powered by a 7-liter LS7 V8 engine developed by Corvette Racing that can pump up 505 horsepower. The seller claims the paintwork is in “excellent condition” and said that there have been no exterior modifications.

It added that there is no discoloration on the black leather seats that matched the body of the ride. The car also boasts neat features like high-performance brakes and tires as well as Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers.

The highest bidder will get the keys personally from Chris Harris

As per the listing, the Camaro underwent MOT testing in September last year at 4,558 miles and passed it. The lucky person who will go home with this will have to meet Chris in the flesh to get the keys at a race track, where he/she can have hot laps in the circuit.
