Besides Dwayne Johnson, ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Will Also Feature This Amazing Supercar

The Fast & Furious franchise is going stronger than ever and the proof is in its upcoming spinoff titled Hobbs & Shaw, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, a film industry duo that is currently ruling the action genre.

As the release date for the highly anticipated film gets closer, car fanatics are already rejoicing because from the trailer alone, you can already tell that the film will feature a fleet of exciting new cars including a McLaren 720S!

McLaren 720S Power

During the premiere of the first spin-off of the massive franchise, Jason made a grand appearance in none other than a McLaren 720S that looked as sporty and stylish as its owner.

The actor looked sleek as he posed in front of the enviable ride, a photo that was later shared by McLaren on its Instagram account. The car is quite the work of art, as we’ve seen it gliding smoothly in high-speed pursuits in the trailers.

In one clip taken by YouTuber Aidan Farren-Hart during one scene, motorbikes, presumably used by the bad guys, are chasing the McLaren as tires screech.

While we know that most of the effects we will see on Aug. 2 are the result of computer-generated imagery, the supercar is quite unearthly-looking in real life, too.

According to caranddriver.com, the 720S can reach 60 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds, travel in a quarter-mile at 145 mph in 10 seconds, and reach the maximum 212 mph.

Hobbs & Shaw Plot

Hobbs & Shaw revolves around The Rock’s character, Luke Hobbs, and Jason’s Deckard Shaw forming an unusual alliance to fight Idris Elba’s Brixton Lore, a cyber-genetically superhuman villain, which earned him the moniker “black superman.” Speaking of the ever-charming Luther star, he is not as evil in real life as the role he plays in the movie.

Idris Elba will play the main antagonist in the film

In May, Idris gave his fans a chance to attend the premiere of the film with him just by donating to the Omaze campaign.

The lucky winner would also be allowed to take lots of photos with him, know other cast members, and most importantly, take home a McLaren 720S with the taxes and shipping already shouldered.

Injury

Meanwhile, just like the next James Bond film dubbed Bond 25, Fast & Furious 9, the next installment of the franchise, also suffered quite a downfall when a stuntman was severely injured after an intense fall.

Joe Watts was leaping from a balcony when the accident occurred and had left him with a head injury. According to a source, the patient is “stable but in an induced coma.”

Jason Statham calls stuntmen unsung heroes

The production had to stop while the team called for paramedics. Jason, who is known for being stoic, referred to this as awful and thought of the family of the injured man.

The 52-year-old further shared how he has built relationships with stuntmen throughout the years of doing action films, even calling them “unsung heroes” because they put their lives at risk just to make the actors look good on big screens.

Vin Diesel was allegedly on the set when Joe Watts was injured

Another insider claimed that Vin Diesel, who was on the set when the accident happened, was shocked by what he witnessed and held back his tears. Joe did stunts in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Ready Player One.
