Star Wars Cast – Then & Now

Hayden Christensen – 39 Years Old – Anakin Skywalker

If anyone could’ve nailed the “good boy gone bad” role of Anakin Skywalker, that would have been Hayden Christensen. The actor starred in the Star Wars prequel trilogy as the young father of Luke Skywalker. He masterfully exhibited his character’s journey from being a gifted Jedi to becoming a threat to the order.

Christensen racked up numerous honors for this outgoing yet wicked persona, including being nominated for the Saturn Award for best actor. After all these years, the star still manages to captivate the best of us with his charming looks and acting chops!

Kenny Baker – 81 Years Old – R2D2

Kenny Baker was the controller and the actor of the droid R2-D2. For the first few movies, the character of R2D2 was remote-controlled, as the robot was operated by the actor while he wore the costume of the droid. Pretty nifty, isn’t it?

It was in the prequel trilogy when CGI came into the picture and changed the game! Baker previously had said that he would not be able to do certain scenes by controlling the droid with a remote. If there was anything that gave the mute R2D2 life, that was Kenny! Unfortunately, as a result of an illness, the actor passed away in 2016.

After successfully finishing the prequel trilogy, the splendid actress started to direct short films like Eve and biographical dramas such as A Tale of Love and Darkness.

We will soon see Portman gracing the big-screen as Jane Foster in 2022 in Thor: Love and Thunder. Despite Natalie’s inspiration journey in Hollywood, the celeb is loved for being vocal about her opinions, and as an environmental and animal rights activist, she works tirelessly towards a better world for all.

David Prowse – 85 Years Old – Darth Vader

He may have left the world for a better place in 2020, but David Prowse will always be remembered for his impeccable work, especially his portrayal of Darth Vader in the iconic Star Wars trilogy. But it was a long journey till he got a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and then in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It was worth the wait!

When he was at the peak of his career, Oscar also found the love of his life – director Elvira Lind. They have been married for three years and are busy raising two lovely children. It’s commendable how brilliantly Oscar balances profession and family!

Thankfully, Amy grabbed the opportunity with both hands, and today we have a magnificent production assistant as well as a marvelous actress. Even though Denis Lawson played a supporting character of Wedge Antilles in the Star Wars franchise, he dazzled the viewers with the finesse of his craft. After that, a whole new world of possibilities opened up for the superstar. You’d be surprised to know that he has done more work on television than on the silver screen. Among many other shows, watch him spreading magic in The Justice Game and Candy Cabs.

While there was more work, Denis had to give up the chance of performing in the reprise version of the series because his schedule collapsed with The Force Awakens. Indeed, a fortunate and unfortunate timing altogether!

Jake Lloyd – 31 Years Old – Young Anakin Skywalker

Remember the little kid who played the character of young Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel The Phantom Menace? Well, his name is Jake Lloyd and he is all grown up now and heading into his thirties!

Unfortunately, fame did not go this former actor’s way and he decided to retire from the entertainment scene and move to Chicago. But there is much more to this talented lady than meets the eye. Over her career of more than thirty-five years, Rena has proved herself a force to be reckoned with as a director, theater performer, and screenwriter as well. It seems that her part as Taun We and Nee Alavar in Lucas’ universe is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her enormous talents.

Bai Ling – 54 Years Old – Banna Breemu

While a lot of the Star Wars characters in this list are well-known, there is an exception to this rule! That’s because actress Bai Ling’s scenes as Senator Banna Breemu were left on the cutting room floor when they edited Revenge of the Sith.

Bai claims there was more to it than what meets the eye and saw her away from the screen, but Lucas insists that it was merely the direction in which the film needed to be taken that required her acting to go. However, you can catch a glimpse of her in the deleted scenes of the DVD release. Apparently, it’s worth the watch!

Daisy Ridley – 28 Years Old – Rey

Before her appearance in the new Star Wars films English actress Daisy Ridley was well on her way to earning her stripes as an entertainer, but when she was cast as Rey a whole new world of possibilities opened up to her and her career.

Liam Neeson – 68 Years Old – Qui-Gon Jinn

He may have appeared on and off in Star Wars, but because of Liam Neeson’s iconic performance, we may be able to see him again as Qui-Gon Jinn. Indeed, often less is more! A shorter part in the movie got Liam recognition that many celebs don’t achieve even after playing the protagonist.

After receiving positive reviews, Liam did voice-over work for some animated films and documentaries. And if you think he must have made a fortune from all these projects, then you’re not wrong. He even bought a house for himself with this money. Besides the loss of his mother, everything seems to be in place in the actor’s life.

Adam Driver – 37 Years Old – Kylo Ren

Playing a hero in movies is still an easy job, but only a few actors play a villain’s role as brilliantly as Adam Driver’s character in the film. The superstar was even honored for his stunning performance in 2016 at MTV Movie Awards night.

Prior to this opportunity, Adam had established himself as an artist in the film industry, but once the critiques saw his craft in Star Wars, he received both critical and commercial success. After which, Driver signed big banner films like The Meyerowitz Stories and Logan Lucky. Barely in his 40s, what this superstar has achieved so far is just the tip of the iceberg!
