Can Ferrari Laferrari Break The Record of The Most Expensive Supercar?

It looks like a record is about to be smashed!

The Ferrari LaFerrari is all set to break the auction record when it hits RM Sotheby’s upcoming London sale in November 2021. First conceptualized in the 2010s, this defining model from Ferrari was a well-deserving car that made a huge impact in the company’s hybrid era, with the most unique and unforgettable look.

In case you didn’t know, LaFerrari is the name of a limited-edition supercar manufactured by the Italian marque to compete with other supercars of the 2010s, including Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1. This particular model created its niche between an instant classic category and a sportscar collection. A car that was definitely destined to be showcased in a museum, but as it turns out, not necessarily to the museum’s brochure!

What made the LaFerrari so special?

Every 1 of 499 LaFerraris is exceptional and insanely special, but what made this one the unicorn of the lot is the fact that this was the only car ordered in the shade of wine-like purple named Vinaccia. Along with that, it came equipped with mind-boggling Pelle Chiodi di Garofano (brown) interiors to complement the entire look.

Like every other LaFerrari model, the vehicle was highlighted by a V-12 and an F1- derived hybrid system that was combined to produce just under 950 horsepower. This customization helped the car reach 60 mph in 2.4 seconds and a quarter-mile in just or less than 10 seconds! What’s more, the hybrid system powering it was freakin’ expensive! According to CarBibles, the LaFerrari’s KERS energy unit cost somewhere around $200,000, and you’ll be shocked to know that this didn’t include installation charges.

The price range

LaFerrari’s were only available to selected high-level hypercar buyers. Such a car like that driven for less than 1000 miles seemed almost impossible to find in the open market. But this model fulfills the fantasy for excited buyers who will now have the chance to own this almost-new superfast car. And going by the fact that a few cars at the auction already have been sold in the price range of $5 million to $10 million, guessing the estimated price of this beauty becomes quite a cakewalk!

If you got the gas…

The 2016 LaFerrari model is all set to be sold at next month’s RM Sotheby’s auction in London. The auction company has decided to put a pre-auction estimate on the vehicle of about $3-$3.45 million. As of now, it’ll be difficult to say whether or not the figure is too low for the sale. Till then, if you have some spare cash (like a few million dollars extra), this might be a great option too.
