All You Need to Know About Home Charging Your Car as a Company Car Driver

Home charging is one of the best perks of going electric. You essentially refuel the vehicle at home. However, it is not as straightforward and easy as refueling your petrol or diesel car. As it comes with a lot of benefits, the government also has a very clear understanding of it.
There are applications in place that request the government to make electric refueling stations mandatory for new buildings. Reports suggest that the government is overviewing this application. Likewise, the government has also placed grant funds to rebuild charging points in the old buildings.

When it comes to home charging the cars, company car drivers are no exception. Company car drivers are eligible to claim separate parking and charging points. Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) is designated to counter all the claims of the company car and van drivers.
Home Charging Equipment for company cars is not taxable
As a company car driver, you can request to have a charge point installed at your flat or shared building. Your car company is obliged to equip you with the necessary equipment and is responsible for installing it throughout. However, to be eligible for this, you should have a work history and contract with your contractor. On average, the car contractors take charge of 70% of the expenses – including the installation.

Once you have a contract in place, the charging equipment is not taxable to you. Rather, your car company will pay the taxes. Nonetheless, homeowners are not eligible to claim charging points at their homes.
How to Claim Home charging?
It is true that home charging your electric or hybrid plug-in car costs a lot. The easiest way to deal with high-cost home charging bills is to reach out to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC.) HMRC is assigned to handle all the claims of business drivers. So, you can claim 5p per mile for all your business trips. Likewise, HMRC also offers certain grants that you can avail as a company car driver.

There are often updates and the latest news that are updated in the portal and app. Likewise, you can integrate the charge point payrolls with the web portal and app. This will be handy for you in automating the payment and in keeping track of all the ins and outs.
